In the next several lessons we will learn the basic division facts, a few numbers at a time.

Division by zero is not allowed.

Division can be shown using the division symbol (÷), the forward-slash (/), or even a fraction bar (since fractions could be considered an incomplete division).

Example: 24 ÷ 6 = 4

The division of 24 by 6 is illustrated below
If 24 objects were evenly divided into 6 groups then each group would have 4 objects.
