## Naming Three-Digit Numbers

### Naming 3-Digit Numbers: Learn

To name a three-digit number, first name the hundreds place, then the tens place, a hyphen, and the ones place.

Examples are:

138 is one hundred thirty-eight

584 is five hundred eighty-four

925 is nine hundred twenty-five

If the tens place is 0, you can leave out the tens place and hyphen.

Examples are:

308 is three hundred eight

804 is eight hundred four

205 is two hundred five

Do **not** use the word *and* when writing whole numbers.
Do **not** write "six hundred and forty-six" but instead write "six hundred forty-six".
The word *and* is reserved for naming decimal numbers.
