Naming 3-Digit Numbers: Learn

To name a three-digit number, first name the hundreds place, then the tens place, a hyphen, and the ones place.

Examples are:

138 is one hundred thirty-eight
584 is five hundred eighty-four
925 is nine hundred twenty-five

If the tens place is 0, you can leave out the tens place and hyphen.

Examples are:

308 is three hundred eight
804 is eight hundred four
205 is two hundred five

Do not use the word and when writing whole numbers. Do not write "six hundred and forty-six" but instead write "six hundred forty-six". The word and is reserved for naming decimal numbers.
